Active Collaboration Opportunities
Global Initiative for Countering Islamophobia and Antisemitism (GIIA)
The Islamophobia and Antisemitism project is a collaborative project that seeks to investigate the historical roots of these prejudices, while critically examining dominant frameworks used to explain these phenomena and the solutions proposed over time. The aim of this nuance in historical reflection and response tracing is to form a clear-eyed foundation towards understanding modern manifestations and responses, which can then feed into developing more effective frameworks and responses. Equally important, this project is also about devising a productive framework for Jewish-Muslim coexistence and understanding— despite dominant ahistorical claims of deep-seated theological discord between Jews and Muslims.
Key Objectives:
-
Create a space for engagement and policymaking mutually beneficial to Jews and Muslims around the world, beyond the confines of political or ideological considerations and silos.
-
Research the interconnectedness between Islamophobia and Antisemitism, promoting a more nuanced understanding of discrimination and the gaps in addressing them.
The Islam in Europe Initiative (IEI)
The Islam in Europe Project seeks to trace the long historical trajectory of Islam’s contributions to Europe over the past millennium and reimagine ways to counter contemporary divides nurtured by ahistorical presuppositions. Within these explorations, we are also peering into history to build upon existing frameworks to combat the sources of modern ailments which include Islamophobia, the rise of right-wing populism, and Europe’s identity crisis.
Key Objectives:
-
Exploring contemporary and historical contributions of Islam to Europe, and looking at Islam as the third-pillar of European identity.
-
Combat Islamophobia by promoting an alternative narrative of “cultural convergence”, as opposed to the currently prevalent "Clash of Civilizations" narrative, which perpetuates the stereotype of Muslims as an alien presence in Western civilization, hostile to it, and posing an existential threat to Western culture and values.

3.Establish a new ground for dialogue, understanding, and cultural exchange between the shores of the Mediterranean, distancing these discussions from existing political tensions fuelled by political, economic, and ideological interests. This new ground would allow for the exploration of commonalities and differences in a constructive manner, aiming to enhance connectivity, understanding, and bridge existing gaps
