Creating New Grounds for Understanding
is a thinktank with a focus on bridging global divides, countering Islamophobia and Antisemitism, and understanding Islam’s interactions with Europe.

WHO WE ARE
New Ground for Research is an independent Thinktank, Foundation and platform for dialogue, collaborative action and research into sources of global division and polarization to create, support, and further evidence-based global policy solutions that bridge divides and create new ground for understanding.

KEY INITIATIVES
1-Global Initiative for Countering Islamophobia and Antisemitism (GIIA)
The Islamophobia and Antisemitism project is a collaborative project that seeks to investigate the historical roots of these prejudices, while critically examining dominant frameworks used to explain these phenomena and the solutions proposed over time. The aim of this nuance in historical reflection and response tracing is to form a clear-eyed foundation towards understanding modern manifestations and responses, which can then feed into developing more effective frameworks and responses. Equally important, this project is also about devising a productive framework for Jewish-Muslim coexistence and understanding— despite dominant ahistorical claims of deep-seated theological discord between Jews and Muslims.

Key Objectives:
2- The Islam in Europe Initiative (IEI)
The Islam in Europe Project seeks to trace the long historical trajectory of Islam’s contributions to Europe over the past millennium and reimagine ways to counter contemporary divides nurtured by ahistorical presuppositions. Within these explorations, we are also peering into history to build upon existing frameworks to combat the sources of modern ailments which include Islamophobia, the rise of right-wing populism, and Europe’s identity crisis.
